Registering with PSIRA as a technical security and CCTV installer, company vs individual directors?
We do network cabling and Ubiquiti Wi-Fi in Pretoria, and clients keep asking us to install IP cameras and access control. Someone told me that even if we only pull Ethernet cable and mount Hikvision/Ubiquiti cameras, both the company AND every director must be PSIRA registered. Is that true?

15 Sept@hanlis_potch Yes, under the Private Security Industry Regulation Act (Act 56 of 2001), installing, servicing or repairing security equipment, including CCTV cameras, alarms, and biometric access control, is a regulated security service. Every director of the (Pty) Ltd must hold at least a Grade B (or relevant executive) PSIRA registration, the business entity itself must be registered as a security business with PSIRA, and your technicians on site must carry valid PSIRA cards. Operating without it is a criminal offence and voids the client's commercial insurance claim if there's a break-in.- 15 Sept@winelandsweb, To echo @psira_watchdog: corporate procurement teams and body corporates in Pretoria check your PSIRA Letter of Good Standing before they even look at your quote. Get the director SAPS clearance fingerprints submitted early because that's the bottleneck.
