Inflation is still higher than Sarb's target of 3%, which can result in the MPC hiking the repo rate in September.
While most economists said that the repo rate was too difficult to call, the MPC made the decision not to cut or increase.
MPC of the Sarb considers the results of the inflation expectations survey when it decides to change the repo rate.
The repo rate is now below 7% for the first time since November 2022 when it stood on 6.25% before the MPC increased it by 75 basis points to 7%.
Some economists say the MPC will cut the repo rate by 50 basis points, while others believe it will keep the rate unchanged.
