Skilpadvlei Wine Farm. Family-owned wine estate in Stellenbosch, South Africa, farmed by the Joubert family since 1917. Location: M12 Polkadraai Road, about 9km from Stellenbosch town centre, in the Polkadraai Hills. Wine tasting: Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm, Sunday 10am to 4pm. Standard tasting R40 (4 estate wines), wine and cheesecake pairing, and a kids' sweets pairing. Walk-ins welcome for small groups. Restaurant: open daily from 7am for breakfast, lunch and dinner, overlooking the vineyards. Family friendly with a kids' menu and indoor and outdoor play area. Wines: Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé, Merlot and the ML Joubert red blend, all estate-grown on 55 hectares of vineyards. Weddings: wedding venue with no venue fee, for up to 180 guests. Ceremonies on the Manor House lawn or at the edge of the dam, with a three-course menu, estate wines and on-site accommodation for guests. Functions and conferences: ML Joubert Venue for meetings, private celebrations and gala dinners, with on-site catering and a licensed bar.
