A big shift we are seeing across Rustenburg commercial businesses this year: founders are moving away from once-a-year historical tax compliance toward monthly fractional CFO reviews. Firms like @outsourcedcfo have shown how much margin gets rescued when pricing and debtor days are reviewed every 30 days.

Performance marketing check-in for Umhlanga commercial teams: attribution is getting much cleaner when agencies connect CRM closed-won revenue back into Google Ads offline conversions instead of optimising for raw form fills. Teams like @barrkmarketing and @contentagency have been championing quality-over-volume lead scoring all year.

Quick legal hygiene reminder for Rustenburg digital marketing founders: if you are still using a copy-pasted US or UK contract template with references to Delaware law or GDPR instead of South African law, POPIA and the CPA, it will cost you dearly in a dispute. Getting clean local agreements from teams like @legalese or @hellocontract pays for itself on the very first project.

Great energy across the Rustenburg commercial community this quarter. Whether teams are working out of hubs like @workshop17 or light-industrial parks, the businesses growing fastest are the ones collaborating locally on referrals and shared logistics.

Heads up for tax practitioners and digital marketing owners in Umhlanga: SARS eFiling has been issuing verification letters within minutes of VAT201 submissions whenever input VAT jumps due to capital equipment purchases. Having supplier tax invoices and proof of payment bundled in a single PDF ready to upload saves weeks of refund delays. Hats off to teams like @tacaccountingservices who keep clients prepped for this.

@eppingpack_cpt checking the supplier's legal name and VAT number upfront is non-negotiable now, plus making sure the client's own company name and VAT registration number appear on the tax invoice when it exceeds R5,000.

For digital agencies and digital marketing studios in Rustenburg: what has been your highest-converting page element for local service clients this year? Watching established studios like @magicinteractive and @pioneerdesigns, transparent pricing guides and real local project case studies beat generic stock photos every single time.

@kobus_badenhorst If your reps keep a strict SARS-compliant logbook (opening/closing odometer on 1 March and 28 Feb, plus date, client name, reason, and business km for every trip), a fixed travel allowance (code 3701) has 80% included for monthly PAYE (or 20% if at least 80% of total travel is business-related). However, for reps who hate logbooks, reimbursing actual business kilometres at the SARS prescribed rate (code 3703) is much cleaner because no PAYE is deducted upfront if they don't also get a fixed allowance. Either way, download a GPS logbook app on day one, SARS disallows travel claims without a contemporaneous logbook automatically.

@tshepo_mabaso debtor days are the silent killer in SA B2B right now. Automating polite Xero payment reminders at 7 days before due date and 3 days overdue cuts 60-day ageing in half.

@siphok_dbn Look at Lightspeed Restaurant (K-Series) or GAAP/Pilot if you need deep recipe stock depletion, or TabletPOS / Yoco POS if you want fast counter service. Whatever you choose, make sure the local receipt printers and Kitchen Display Screens run on a hardwired Ethernet LAN with a small DC UPS on the router/switch, Wi-Fi printers in a busy Parkhurst coffee shop at 9am Saturday will drive your baristas crazy.

@dewald_snyman Since *Magna Alloys* and *Basson v Chilwan*, restraints of trade ARE prima facie valid and enforceable in South African law unless the former employee proves the restraint is unreasonable and contrary to public policy. However, a court won't enforce a restraint just to stop ordinary competition, you must show a protectable proprietary interest, specifically **customer connections** (where the rep had such a close relationship with your clients that they can easily move them to the competitor) or **confidential trade secrets** (pricing models, margins, contract renewal dates). Act fast with an urgent attorney letter from a firm like @legalese before theypoach accounts.

@craig_macleod, To add to @ari_goldman_sa: preserve the forensic evidence on their returned company laptop and WhatsApp Business phone immediately without altering timestamps, and send a polite formal notice to the new employer putting them on terms regarding unlawful competition.

Working capital planning for Rustenburg managed it, fibre SMEs: when a business wins a large purchase order from a corporate or municipality that pays on 60 days, bridging the supplier stock gap without starving monthly payroll is critical. Having pre-vetted working capital options like @lulalend alongside clean Xero management accounts gives growing operators real breathing room.

@arig_rosebank Use the JBCC Minor Works Agreement every time on R1m+ fit-outs. Everyone in the SA property industry knows how it works, and it gives you crystal-clear machinery for interim payment certificates, recovery of Preliminaries & Generals (P&Gs) when the landlord's base-building contractors delay your access, and formal contract instructions (variations). Homemade 6-page SLAs almost always leave out practical completion definitions and latent/patent defect periods, which turns the final 10% retention release into a fight.

@willem_nel_bfn, Seconding @hannes_joubert 100%. On Rosebank/Sandton office towers, center management rules (night work only for noisy coring, lift booking windows) can add 20% to labour if not recorded in the JBCC Contract Data up front.

PayFast vs Peach Payments vs Stitch for a WooCommerce store selling high-ticket B2B equipment?

We're launching an online ordering portal for commercial catering spares in Johannesburg. Average basket size is R8,500 to R35,000. Card fees at 3%+ eat into our margin fast on R30k orders, so we need reliable Instant EFT / PayShap alongside 3D Secure card payments. Which gateway has the best settlement speed and lowest failure rate right now?

KznPlumbPro · 31 Aug 2026

@cobus_potgieter, We run three high-AOV WooCommerce stores and moved two of them to @peachpayments this year. Their WooCommerce plugin handles webhook retries much cleaner when a buyer's mobile network drops mid-3DS, and their support team in Cape Town actually picks up the phone when you need a custom settlement or fee review once your monthly volume crosses R250k.

Sanet · 31 Aug 2026

@kznplumbpro, +1 for @peachpayments on higher basket sizes. Also add a 'Request Pro-Forma Invoice (Instant PDF)' button on baskets over R15,000, about 40% of SA procurement teams still need a PDF tax invoice with banking details so their finance person can load a dual-approval EFT on FNB or Investec.
