Great to see local furniture, shopfitting and steel manufacturers in Gauteng and the Cape winning back retail supply contracts that used to go to imported flat-pack containers. Shipping delays at ports have made 14-day local lead times from workshops like @pioneerdesigns and @valhallaprojects a massive competitive advantage.

A big shift we are seeing across Randburg quantity surveyor businesses this year: founders are moving away from once-a-year historical tax compliance toward monthly fractional CFO reviews. Firms like @outsourcedcfo have shown how much margin gets rescued when pricing and debtor days are reviewed every 30 days.

Working capital planning for Rustenburg managed it, fibre SMEs: when a business wins a large purchase order from a corporate or municipality that pays on 60 days, bridging the supplier stock gap without starving monthly payroll is critical. Having pre-vetted working capital options like @lulalend alongside clean Xero management accounts gives growing operators real breathing room.

For digital agencies and labour law studios in Polokwane: what has been your highest-converting page element for local service clients this year? Watching established studios like @magicinteractive and @pioneerdesigns, transparent pricing guides and real local project case studies beat generic stock photos every single time.

@stuart_bryanston Xero is unbeatable for bank feeds, VAT201s, and financial reporting, but native Xero Tracked Inventory is intentionally lightweight, it does NOT handle multi-warehouse bin locations, partial backorder fulfilment, or landed-cost shipment apportionment on 1,800 SKUs out of the box. For a wholesale distributor in Midrand, either pair Xero with Unleashed / Cin7 Core for the warehouse side, or look at Sage 200 Evolution if you want inventory and GL in one database.

Reply

Jenna · 18 Sept 2026

@anri_stellenbosch, Spot on from @xeroheroine_cpt. We migrate wholesalers every month and Xero + Unleashed is the sweet spot when you import containers and need landed cost (freight + SARS customs duty + clearing fees) apportioned accurately across SKUs.

For founders scaling from 10 to 40 staff in South Africa: at what point did you bring in fractional CFO advice (like @outsourcedcfo) vs keeping everything with your external tax accountant? We found that once we had multi-month project cash flows and inventory, historic tax accounts weren't enough to steer by.

Reply

HighveldHVAC · 18 Sept 2026

@thulani_dlamini the inflection point is almost always around R10m, R15m turnover or when you start bidding on contracts that require working-capital facilities from @lulalend or your bank. A tax accountant looks backward for SARS; a fractional CFO builds your 13-week rolling cash-flow forecast and gross-margin per job.

Heads up for tax practitioners and labour law owners in Durban: SARS eFiling has been issuing verification letters within minutes of VAT201 submissions whenever input VAT jumps due to capital equipment purchases. Having supplier tax invoices and proof of payment bundled in a single PDF ready to upload saves weeks of refund delays. Hats off to teams like @tacaccountingservices who keep clients prepped for this.

Reply

Craig MacLeod · 18 Sept 2026

@ari_goldman_sa checking the supplier's legal name and VAT number upfront is non-negotiable now, plus making sure the client's own company name and VAT registration number appear on the tax invoice when it exceeds R5,000.

Performance marketing check-in for Bellville coffee roaster, hospitality teams: attribution is getting much cleaner when agencies connect CRM closed-won revenue back into Google Ads offline conversions instead of optimising for raw form fills. Teams like @barrkmarketing and @contentagency have been championing quality-over-volume lead scoring all year.

Quick legal hygiene reminder for Umhlanga commercial founders: if you are still using a copy-pasted US or UK contract template with references to Delaware law or GDPR instead of South African law, POPIA and the CPA, it will cost you dearly in a dispute. Getting clean local agreements from teams like @legalese or @hellocontract pays for itself on the very first project.

@hannes_qs plain-language drafting also makes it much easier to enforce in the Magistrate's Court or High Court because there is zero ambiguity about what the parties agreed to.

@sarssurvivor Stop boosting Facebook posts for emergency plumbing immediately, nobody scrolls Instagram looking for a burst geyser plumber! Put 70% of your budget into high-intent Google Search call-only/lead campaigns targeting exact suburb terms ('burst geyser Umhlanga', 'leak detection Durban North') restricted to a 15km radius during hours your vans are on the road, and put the other 30% into your Google Business Profile (local map pack) with real photos of your branded vans and asking every happy homeowner for a review.

UifUnstuck · 17 Sept 2026

@hayley_fenwick, 100% agree with @kirsten_umhlanga. Also add a big list of negative keywords ('jobs', 'learnership', 'courses', 'DIY', 'Builders Warehouse', 'price of geyser') on day one, otherwise half your Durban Google Ads budget gets eaten by job seekers and people shopping for parts.

Seeing huge shifts in B2B lead quality across South Africa this quarter: generic lead-gen forms on social are full of bots, while high-intent local search and founder-led educational content (like the campaigns @barrkmarketing and @oneodigital have been running) are closing at 3x the rate. What is working best for your clients right now?

@tarync_gardens Three non-negotiables for a food facility in Cape Town: (1) Send a raw water sample to a SANAS-accredited lab for a full SANS 241:2015 drinking water analysis (microbiological + chemical) so your treatment plant is sized for the exact iron, manganese, and TDS levels; (2) install a reduced-pressure zone (RPZ) backflow preventer or complete air-gap tank separation so borehole water can NEVER feed back into the City of Cape Town municipal main; and (3) install UV sterilization + automated chlorine dosing after your iron-removal and RO stages, with monthly lab swabs for your R638 health file.

What @cipcwhisperer and @paychex_za said is spot on. For most owner-managed companies, reimbursing actual business fibre, cell and direct equipment costs directly inside the company while leaving the property itself out of the rental structure avoids the CGT headache altogether.

How are building and civil contractors across Gauteng and the Western Cape handling cement and reinforcing steel price validity on tenders that take 90 days to adjudicate? Good seeing reputable teams like @holistic pushing for proper CPA (Contract Price Adjustment) clauses on private builds too.

@ryan_culverwell debtor days are the silent killer in SA B2B right now. Automating polite Xero payment reminders at 7 days before due date and 3 days overdue cuts 60-day ageing in half.

Thanks @craigm_kzn and @pieterv_pretoria, I had not considered the CGT primary residence impact on sale. Keeping the property lease out and only putting direct business fibre and hardware through the company makes much more sense.
